We are a medium-sized, full service farm not far from the highest point in Indiana. We believe that the basis of any herd should be health and conformation, and that those traits form a strong foundation from which we breed for high quality fiber in a variety of colors. Offering personal, friendly service and advice, we encourage you to come and visit to experience the “alpaca” way of life. We also get involved in our local community; we have been the 4H leaders for alpacas since 2005, having started this program in our county. Since then we have had 3 successful 4H shows! We participate in National Alpaca Farm Day, host farm visits for home schoolers and have taken alpacas into local schools to provide education about these wonderful animals.

Aris Farm Alpacas is located approximately 4 miles south of Clinton, Indiana, just off of HWY 63 and 20 minutes north of Terre Haute on HWY 63. Our farm sits on 40 acres of cropland and pastures. Having worked in the alpaca business for 9 years, managing another small alpaca farm near us and starting my own farm, I have gained a wealth of knowledge through experience. Our goal is to raise the highest quality alpacas and support the North Amercian Alpaca Fiber Industry.

Established in 2007, Catch-a-Cria Alpacas is a small farm located just outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Even though we are small, you will find both Suri and Huacaya alpacas on our farm. We love showing off our variety to family, friends and farm visitors.

Farm visits were critical in making the decision to take on this venture and change in lifestyle. At least 10 farms were visited in three states and each one offered valuable information. Decisions had to be made regarding barn layout, pasture, fencing and herd management practices.

Preparations from the ground up began! There was a barn to build, pasture to plant and lots of fencing and gates to install. Meanwhile, there are always plenty of seminars and reading material that covers every alpaca topic imaginable.

We welcome farm visitors and will use all the information and experience we have gathered to “pay it forward” in the alpaca community.

We have owned and raised horses for over 50 years. We still have horses but became interested in the alpacas as a retirement adventure. We can’t live without animals to care for and enjoy. We have enjoyed the alpaca community and their helpful hints. We started with two young females and now have fourteen in our herd. The babies are wonderful and so much fun to watch. We will continue to increase our herd to approximately 20 alpacas. We want to remain a small farm and provide excellent care and attention to details.

Our goals are to produce the best quality fiber possible, and to develop lasting relationships with our friends and customers.

Pat and Connie Alexander here! We live on 120 acres of rolling hills/pasture with about 20+ acres in woodland. Pat “puts up” about 250 soft-core large round bales of orchard grass hay each year and sells most of it to our neighbors for their cattle and horses. We keep about 10 bales for our alpacas and guard llamas (they just don’t require much food). I’ll give you an example, we have 20 alpacas and 5 guard llamas and they eat about one round bale every 2 months. Neighbor Chuck, across the road has six horses and just added 6 long horned steer, and he goes through 3 round bales a week (that’s right – a week!)

Our herd has grown by leaps (or should we say “prongs”) and bounds and we continue to celebrate our anniversary of owning alpacas and llamas since we bought our first on September 17, 2000!
